When will Indians Stop Spitting on Roads?

Campus Times Pune

Driving on Indian roads is always an adventure. I guess we all can agree on that. Even a simple drive from your place to college and back home feels like a game of road rash, with people walking as if “unke baap ka rasta hai” and cars coming in and out, changing lanes as they please. Witnessing all this on the roads makes me think sometimes that India is indeed a FREE (to do whatever you want) COUNTRY. Speaking of Road Rash, I feel even the game is much more disciplined than the Indian roads.

Hold on. There is more. The Indian roads adds another bonus feature four your daily driving on your way to work. Its called “The spit bombs”, or simply just people spitting all their decency out onto the roads waiting to attack you. (This might be a fun feature if ti could…

Welcome Budd-‘E’s….

The beginning of the semester saw an astounding response from the second year and third year students for the formation of TEAM KANISHK-2013. The selection process of budding Entrepreneurs (Budd-‘E’s) was successfully held by Entrepreneurship Cell of PCCOE.

The procedure to apply for respective vacancies was pretty easy for all the students. We had prepared an online form through which students could submit the form with all details which included the post they want to apply, the reason they are interested in joining Kanishk, qualities worth knowing about them and the contact details. Since three months we have indeed received an astonishing response both from the second and third year students. And a special mention about the E&TC students participation which showed an exponential increase this year. But at the same time we missed a little feminism in the group.inter-viewers

The selection process mainly consisted of an interview in which the student would get the maximum chance to express himself on different topics ranging from hobbies to politics. The interview was conducted by Mr. Anikait Chavan, the student co-ordinator as well as Head of Planning Department jointly with the respective BOD’s of the departments.

We received 35 registrations overall from the students which were then divided into two slots for the selection process. On 19th December, we conducted the round for students belonging to documentation, execution and planning department. On 20th December, the remaining students were interviewed for their posts. On the other hand, as all the BOD’s were also present , it proved to be an interactive session with all the budding E-leaders telling them about the events conducted since the last few years and also inheriting creative ideas from them. I hate AUDITS !!!

So, as we all know, the NBA committee is going to visit PCCOE on 15th September. Everybody is very busy in documentation stuff of all the activities and events been done in these years. All the achievements of PCCOE are being highlighted for accreditation.

KANISHK is active in campus since 2010. There are many activities and events been conducted by our Eleaders since then. I’m really glad to thank our documentation department head ANSH BAHRI, and JAYA DEWAN maam who have spent days and nights to maintain records and stats on paper. Documentation has been done so good and in proper format, that half of the work was reduced when I was asked to prepare a final report of 3 years for Principal presentation.

Given below are the PPT slides, which were made for the final presentation. In these slides, complete event and activity details are given according to the dates and departments. I was blessed by presence of ROOPAKIRAN YELURI, who helped me a lot in making these slides. We can see the graph of development in last 3 years has been significant. And I wish, it keeps on growing with the same rate….
I wish all the best luck to my fellow Leaders and everybody who is associated with Ecell.

The Journey so Far……

I still remember the day vividly when I was a first year engineering student and our class was addressed to head towards seminar hall because there was some external guest coming to deliver a lecture.

That day was when National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) was firstly introduced to all of us. I felt very excited and energetic after the session as this was what I actually wanted to do, but i never knew what exactly to do. We all came to know what the word “Entrepreneur” meant. The concept of E-cell and activities going around in other colleges throughout India were shown to us. NEN had a proposal to start new E-cell in our institute i.e. Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering. Though very less seemed to be interested, there were few who started finding out ways to become a part of the cell if given a chance.

Later, a group of 15 was selected as E-leaders to run E-cell as an organization on the campus. All of us from First year Engineering with no experience but hell lot of courage and willingness to do something different were ready to continue this campaign started by NEN. We named our cell KANISHK, in the name of King Kanishka, who was well known for his courage, huge empire and power. The outcome was seen soon. E-week 2010 was a magical hit which turned out to be a ZERO BUDGET EVENT. Cell got lot of recognitions from media, crowd of the campus as well as the management. Things started happening differently in the campus, institute and management was not used to things done without following the system. All the leaders faced lot of problems from their department regarding attendance, academic performance issues, and what not. Some internal politics and personal issues was a threat to team’s strength and focus. Some of them thought of ending their journey looking at their academics, other worries and did so. But others stood still staying much more determined and dedicated towards the cell. After all, it was something, which was our own.
Next year came with new challenges and goals. Kanishk was no more a new comer now. We had to compete, create a value among other E-cells in the city. Development phase had started. Team was newly formed with changed designations and responsibilities.

Media Coverage by SAKAL !!

Kanishk’s Plastic Collection Drive was covered by Sakal, Leading Marathi Local newspaper. Appreciating the efforts of E-leaders of PCCOE, they also publicized the activities under KANISHK during E-WEEK 2012. The story of KANISHK’s start includes starting up as beginners and amateurs, but now they have started creating a mark for themselves. As a part of E-Week 2012, the leaders of Kanishk collected waste plastic from nearly 100 homes in Nigdi Pradhikaran by going door to door. While the other half of the team was busy monitoring traffic at the Bhel Chowk and Akurdi Chowk in the same vicinity. Later that evening, all the students also received an appreciation from the Pune Traffic Police.

The overall event was a success as it was for a noble cause of public awareness. The team of 2012 including students of 2013 and 2014 batch from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering surely set up an example before Youth, that the generation has still not forgotten their social responsibilities. Anikait Chavan – one of the leaders at Kanishk said that, even if everyone does their own part in following traffic rules or disposing garbage properly, taking care of the government properties as their own, there won’t be any need for any kind of awareness, campaigns or even rules and monitoring. He believes that the youth has the greatest power; Power to change thoughts, power to create a difference, power to at least stand for something good. It just depends on how soon one realizes and implements it in his / her own life.
